A six-day practical SSOL Schroth programme combining lectures, demonstrations and practical sessions in scoliosis-specific rehabilitation, exercise prescription, radiological evaluation and individual treatment planning.

The programme also includes access to the prerequisite 24-hour online Fundamentals course, one year of mentoring and online tutorial access for certified SSOL Schroth physiotherapists.

Course Overview

SSOL Schroth Part 1 provides practical education in Schroth-based principles for scoliosis and other spinal conditions.

The programme covers basic exercises for different curve types, clinical and comprehensive radiological evaluation, individual treatment planning, team-based management and adult spinal deformity.

Participants also learn to prescribe exercises according to different curve characteristics and to recognise and manage compensations that may occur during Schroth manoeuvres.

What You Will Learn

Schroth-based principles for scoliosis and spinal conditions.
Clinical & radiological evaluation, including Cobb angle measurement in both coronal and sagittal planes, alongside spinopelvic parameter analysis- applicable not only to scoliosis and hyperkyphosis, but also to broader mechanical back pain.
Prescribing individualised exercise programs based on specific curve classifications and subtypes, progressing across a variety of Schroth positions from basic to advanced, alongside targeted exercises for unique curve patterns. Basic exercises for different curve types including hanging, semi-hanging, supine, prone, side-lying, sitting, standing and Schroth walking.
Individual treatment planning.
Team-based approaches to scoliosis management.
Adult spinal deformity considerations.
Precision exercise prescription according to individual curve characteristics.
Identification and management of compensations during Schroth manoeuvres.

Prerequisite

Participants must hold a Certificate of Completion for the SSOL Schroth 24-Hour Online Course: Fundamentals of Scoliosis and Spinal Conditions, issued within 18 months before Practical Part 1.

The online Fundamentals course is taught by SSOL Schroth founders Andrea Lebel and Hagit Berdishevsky and is included in the listed course fee.

Certification

Participants who successfully pass the examination are eligible for certification as an SSOL Schroth Physiotherapist.

Certification is valid for three years.

Who Should Attend?

Open to physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work with a physiotherapist certified by SSOL Schroth or BSPTS.

Emily Heah

Emily Heah is Principal Physiotherapist and Co-founder of BREMJ Scoliosis Treatment & Physio Centre in Singapore. With more than 18 years of clinical experience, she has specialised in structural scoliosis since 2012.

Her scoliosis education includes BSPTS, ISST Schroth, FITS and SEAS, together with advanced training in scoliosis conservative treatment. She is also committed to professional education and regularly conducts seminars and webinars for physiotherapists and has been involved with the Membership Committee of the International Society of Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT).
