Course Overview

SSOL Schroth Practical Part 1 develops practical skills for treating scoliosis and other spinal conditions through individualised exercise prescription.

Participants learn to move beyond curve types by prescribing exercises according to the unique features of different curve patterns and subtypes. The programme also focuses on recognising and managing compensations during Schroth manoeuvres to support safer and more effective clinical application.

Certified SSOL Schroth physiotherapists receive free access to online tutorials and one year of mentoring.

What You Will Learn

Clinical & radiological evaluation, including Cobb angle measurement in both coronal and sagittal planes, alongside spinopelvic parameter analysis- applicable not only to scoliosis and hyperkyphosis, but also to broader mechanical back pain.
Prescribing individualised exercise programs based on specific curve classifications and subtypes, progressing across a variety of Schroth positions from basic to advanced, alongside targeted exercises for unique curve patterns.
Identify compensations occurring during Schroth manoeuvres.
Adapt exercise prescription to manage compensations appropriately.
Develop more individualised approaches to scoliosis rehabilitation.
Apply SSOL Schroth principles to scoliosis and other spinal conditions.
Extend learning through online tutorial access and post-course mentoring.

Prerequisite

Participants must hold a Certificate of Completion for the SSOL Schroth 24-Hour Online Course: Fundamentals of Scoliosis and Spinal Conditions, issued within 18 months before Practical Part 1.

The online Fundamentals course is taught by SSOL Schroth founders Andrea Lebel and Hagit Berdishevsky and is included in the listed course fee.

Certification

Participants who successfully pass the examination are eligible for certification as an SSOL Schroth Physiotherapist.

Certification is valid for three years.

Who Should Attend?

Open to physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work with a physiotherapist certified by SSOL Schroth or BSPTS.

About the Instructor

Emily Heah

Principal Physiotherapist • SSOL Schroth International Educator• Chair of Membership Committee of SOSORT

Emily Heah is Principal Physiotherapist and Co-founder of BREMJ Scoliosis Treatment & Physio Centre in Singapore. She has more than 18 years of clinical experience and has specialised in the treatment of structural scoliosis since 2012.

Her scoliosis training includes BSPTS C1 and C2, ISST Schroth, Functional Individual Therapy of Scoliosis (FITS) and the Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS Level 2). She has also completed advanced education in scoliosis conservative treatment and has been involved with the Membership Committee of the International Society of Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT).
